Shanghai – WATCVM: A Highlight from the 21st Annual International Conference on TCVM
As many of you may already know, Dr. Raj had the distinct honor of being invited to speak at the 21st Annual International Conference on Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) held this past September in Shanghai, China. This prestigious event took place at the impressive World Expo Hotel, known for its stunning architecture and excellent facilities.
The theme of the conference was centered around TCVM for dermatological and immune-mediated diseases in a diverse range of animals, including dogs, cats, and horses. Throughout the event, participants delved into various aspects of how traditional Chinese medicine can be applied to treat and manage these complex conditions, enhancing the quality of life for our furry and equine companions.
Each day of the conference began with a sumptuous buffet breakfast, featuring a delightful mix of both Western and Chinese culinary delights. Following breakfast, attendees engaged in a series of presentations and lectures, exploring innovative treatments and sharing valuable insights. The afternoons were filled with additional lectures and interactive sessions, culminating in evening social events where speakers and attendees mingled, discussed the day’s topics, and built connections within the veterinary community.
Dr. Raj’s participation in this esteemed conference reflects the ongoing commitment to advancing veterinary knowledge and integrating traditional practices with modern medicine. The experience was not only a professional milestone but also a valuable opportunity to contribute to the global conversation on improving animal health through TCVM.
On day 3 of the event, Dr. Raj took to the stage to present her findings on Platelet Rich Plasma Aqua-Acupuncture in Cats and Dogs. Later that evening at the awards ceremony she was presented with one of the ten best speaker awards. It was a night to remember.
The next day we traveled to The Bund. A trendy area in downtown Shanghai near the river where we had dinner with the Board of Directors from the World Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, including Dr. Mushtaq Memon, Dr. Alexandra Kintz Konegger and Dr. Gregory Todd. We discussed some of the latest procedures that were presented at the conference as well as the potential of working together in the future.
